Living with a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Métrographe Watch

I've had my Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Métrographe watch for
a month, my second serious Swiss watch in addition to my IWC Mark XVIII pilot's
watch, so I thought it was worth reporting on her mechanical capabilities, her
style, and my emotional connection to her.
Mechanically, it rolls superbly 30 times and is worn all
day,
it can be left unused for forty-two hours before stopping.
It keeps the perfect time in between, but I tend to wear it all day so I rarely
need to reset it and wind it up. The automatic chronograph movement is famous
for its reliability and I can prove it.
Being able to see the beautifully crafted inner workings of
the back of the watch case is a daily reminder of the efforts that went into
creating this piece, something I have seen with my own eyes at the various
facilities of Parmigiani Manufacture this month. .Latest.

Style-wise, the 40mm case is a good size, not small but not
too big, and on its face it's understated but noticeable. An ideal balance in
my eyes. As you can see, the dial is indexed in black via luminescent coated
rhodium-plated appliqués and finished in a snail exterior, opal center, and
luminescent counter with delta hands and luminescent coating. The stainless
steel deployment clasp took a bit of getting used to, but it's really safe and
it really makes sense once you get familiar. This secures the very high quality
Hermès Epsom black calfskin strap in place. It really is a beautiful piece.

Emotionally, before understanding the quality of the
Parmigiani Fleurier, I was suspicious; after all, it feels good when someone
recognizes your watch and asks, "Is this a CBI?" A watch is the
closest a man can get to a legitimate jewel, an authentic style accessory, so
there are several boxes to check. Form, function, style and most of all how you
feel.

Those who are deeply rooted in the world of Swiss watches
have no problem recognizing Parmigiani Fleurier as one of the best, but beyond
that it is not as well known as Rolex or IWC, but after a month in port, I like
that fact. I love that it is a fantastic watch in every way and that it is off
the radar, it is not just another Rolex. But best of all, when someone asks
what brand it is and I let them take care of it, they can "feel" the
quality and then they understand Parmigiani Fleurier. And that makes me happy.
